Wizkid leads a record 24 Nigerian artists who have now passed one billion streams on Spotify across all credits. According to a tally published by tooXclusive on October 12, 2026, the Starboy has 11.91 billion all-credit streams, ahead of Burna Boy with 11.19 billion. The latest artist to join the club is Adekunle Gold , who has just reached one billion, a sign of how fast Nigerian music continues to grow on the world's biggest streaming platform. The full list After Wizkid and Burna Boy, the top ten is completed by Rema (6.8 billion), Tems (6.38 billion), Asake (4.5 billion), Ayra Starr (4.36 billion), Davido (4.22 billion), Omah Lay (3.78 billion), CKay (3.1 billion) and Fireboy DML (2.75 billion). The rest of the list reads: BNXN (2.29 billion), Seyi Vibez (2.11 billion), Mr Eazi (2.1 billion), Kizz Daniel and Olamide (1.82 billion each), Victony (1.59 billion), ODUMODUBLVCK (1.56 billion), Ruger (1.29 billion), Young Jonn (1.22 billion), Oxlade (1.14 billion), Shallipopi (1.06 billion), FOLA (1.04 billion), Joeboy (1.01 billion) and Adekunle Gold (1.00 billion). All credits versus lead credits The tooXclusive figures count all credits, including features and collaborations. That matters for artists like Wizkid, whose features on global hits such as Drake's "One Dance" add heavily to his total. On lead-artist streams alone, the picture is slightly different. HypeTribe reported on October 3 that Burna Boy's lead catalogue cleared eight billion Spotify streams, the first Afrobeats run to pass that mark under the artist's own name. Chartmasters logged the milestone on October 1, about three weeks after his lead total passed seven billion. Burna Boy's catalogue power Burna Boy, pictured above performing at Romania's Untold festival in 2024, has the deepest solo catalogue of the group. Burna Boy's older albums are still a major driver. His 2019 album African Giant crossed 1.4 billion album streams in late September, HypeTribe noted, showing that catalogue releases keep earning years after release. According to the same report, Rema remains the nearest Afrobeats name to Burna Boy on lead streams, while Wizkid holds the bigger all-credit total. In the 2026 African year-to-date race, Burna Boy, Wizkid and Tems have stayed close together at the top through the autumn. Adekunle Gold joins the club Adekunle Gold's arrival at one billion is a landmark for an artist who began his career with the highlife-leaning "Sade" in 2015 and has steadily moved towards a polished Afropop sound. His recent album Fuji has been one of his most successful projects and is nominated at the 18th Headies. Why the numbers matter Streaming totals are now one of the clearest ways to measure global reach. In 2015, very few African artists had meaningful Spotify numbers at all. Today, two Nigerian artists have more than 11 billion all-credit streams each and two dozen have passed a billion. The growth reflects better streaming access across Africa, playlisting from global platforms, and a steady flow of international collaborations. It also shows a widening base: the list now includes street-pop names such as Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi, rap-leaning artists such as ODUMODUBLVCK, and R&B voices such as FOLA. Lagos on the global map Many of the artists on the list began their careers in Lagos' club and street scenes before reaching global charts. Their numbers now rival those of established pop stars from the US and UK, proving that the Nigerian industry can produce streaming giants at scale. The growth also matters for the business behind the music. Higher streaming totals mean more royalty income for artists, labels and publishers, and they give Nigerian acts more leverage when negotiating with international partners and festival promoters. The milestone also reflects the strength of collaboration culture in Nigeria, where artists frequently feature on each other's records and on international hits. What's next tooXclusive says more artists are close to the milestone, so the list is expected to grow over the coming months. Watch for new entries from the next wave of Afrobeats acts, and for the race between Wizkid and Burna Boy at the top of the all-credit chart.
