South Korean actress Shin Min-a looked back on 25 years in acting at the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), where she took part in the festival's Actors House conversation series on October 10, 2026. Speaking at the Shinsegae Department Store Culture Hall in Busan's Haeundae district, she told the audience that being an actress was "my destiny", according to Star News. Back in Busan Shin explained that it had been a long time since she last attended the festival, which she visited with the film My Love, My Bride. "I came to Busan because I was invited for the series Remarried Empress, and I am also participating in the Actors House," she said. "I am so happy that many people are here. I would like to have a sincere conversation." On the same day she also appeared at an outdoor stage greeting for Remarried Empress at the festival, according to Star News. Reflecting on 25 years Shin said she had "simply kept running hard" since her debut. "Looking back, I realised how much time has passed," she said. "However, thanks to the continuous support and love from many people, I have been able to keep working. I think it is truly a happy thing." She recalled starting out very young, at a time when teen magazines were at the height of their popularity and many of the models were peers only slightly older than her. "In fact, I think I also had a desire to escape from my repetitive daily life. I also wanted to grow up quickly," she said. She added that working alongside adults made her proud and that the process was fun. "I would like to tell myself that I am grateful for not forgetting the passion and mindset I had back then and making it this far." The pressure of a remake Allkpop reports that Shin also spoke about the pressure of starring in remakes, looking back on her 2014 romantic comedy My Love, My Bride. The film was a modern adaptation of director Lee Myung-se's 1990 film of the same name, which starred Park Joong-hoon and the late Choi Jin-sil. She explained that carrying on the legacy of a character Choi Jin-sil had portrayed so beautifully brought great responsibility. Star News quotes her as saying her predecessor "expressed it so beautifully". According to allkpop, she was drawn to the modernised script because it felt timeless and relatable, and she aimed to bring her own voice to the role. About the Actors House The Actors House is a BIFF programme in which leading actors talk with audiences about their careers, roles and working methods. Shin's session, built around a 25-year career, gave fans an unusually personal account of how she started and how she has kept going. Why it matters Korean screen culture has become a global export alongside K-pop , and festivals like BIFF increasingly feature series as well as films. Shin's presence for Remarried Empress reflects that shift. For more on the country's entertainment industry, see Entzopedia's South Korea hub and our film section.
