Seyi Vibez Headlines Island Block Party in Lagos

Article

A massive crowd gathered at Sol Beach, Elegushi, in Lagos as Seyi Vibez headlined the Island edition of Mainland Block Party. The concert, themed "Seyi Vibez GTA", brought fans out to watch the street-pop star perform songs from across his catalogue, including tracks from his latest album, Swaggu. The Guardian Nigeria reported on the show on October 10, 2026, describing the turnout as a sign of the singer's growing pull among Nigerian music fans. A night of Seyi Vibez hits The singer, born Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi, performed in front of a large live audience by the beach, with the set drawing on his best-known records as well as newer songs from Swaggu. The event also brought together other acts from the contemporary Nigerian music scene, giving fans a fuller night of live music. It was not his first collaboration with the organisers this year. Mainland Block Party had already hosted Seyi Vibez on May 1, which made the October 1 concert his second outing with the platform in 2026. Swaggu's global run The show came as Swaggu continues to gather international attention. According to The Guardian, the album debuted at No. 6 on Billboard's World Albums chart, his highest-charting project on that chart. It also opened at No. 1 on Spotify's Global Top Albums Debut chart and debuted at No. 35 on the worldwide Apple Music albums chart. Those figures built on an already strong home run, which Entzopedia covered in our report on Swaggu's Apple Music Nigeria chart takeover . The album has given Seyi Vibez the kind of global chart numbers usually associated with Afrobeats' biggest names. Among Nigeria's biggest streamers His streaming footprint is now among the largest in the country. A tooXclusive tally published on October 12 placed Seyi Vibez 12th among the 24 Nigerian artists who have passed one billion all-credit Spotify streams, with 2.11 billion. He was also named among the nominees for Digital Artiste of the Year at the 18th Headies. Who is Seyi Vibez? Seyi Vibez rose through Lagos street-pop, a style that blends Afrobeats with fuji influences, Yoruba lyrics and gritty storytelling. His raw, emotional delivery and steady stream of releases built a loyal base in Lagos before his numbers began to show up on global charts. Like many of his street-pop peers, he has grown his following first through mainland neighbourhoods and live shows, then online. A headline slot on the Island side of Lagos, at a beach venue in Elegushi, reflects how far that audience has spread across the city. Mainland Block Party's growing calendar Mainland Block Party has become one of Lagos' busiest concert brands, bringing established Nigerian artists to large live audiences across the city. The October show was part of a year-long programme of events from the organisers. They have already announced their next big date. Mission 24K, the annual New Year's Day concert, is scheduled for January 1 in Ikeja. The location has been confirmed, but the headliner has not yet been announced, leaving fans guessing who will close one year and open the next. Why the Island date mattered Lagos concert culture has long been split between the Mainland and the Island, with different venues, prices and crowds. By taking a brand named after the Mainland to Sol Beach in Elegushi, the organisers and Seyi Vibez showed that his audience crosses those lines. The large turnout reported by The Guardian suggests the gamble paid off, and it hands the promoters a strong story going into their next big event. What's next For Seyi Vibez, the coming months look busy. Swaggu is still climbing in streams, the Headies awards are now set for April 2027 in Toronto, and the December concert season in Lagos is approaching. With two Mainland Block Party headline slots in a single year and a global chart debut behind him, he goes into "Detty December" as one of the hottest live acts in Nigeria. Entzopedia will update his profile as new dates and releases are confirmed. Sources: The Guardian Nigeria | tooXclusive | Vanguard
