Jose Chameleone Invites Two Presidents to Lugogo Concert

Article

Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone says he has invited two East African heads of state to his upcoming Lugogo Cricket Oval concert in Kampala. According to Pulse Uganda, he named Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye as guests for his Chameleone Unlimited show. Neither president had confirmed attendance at the time of reporting. Revealed on a TikTok live Pulse Uganda reports that Chameleone revealed the invitations during a TikTok live session with Barista Timo. He used the moment to contrast his connections with those of other artists. "Recently people saw me with President Samia, while some other [artists] are trying to take pictures with their MPs," he said. The comment was typical of the singer's confident public style, and it quickly spread across Ugandan entertainment pages. It also put his concert back in the headlines before a new date has been announced. Links with both presidents The invitations build on recent meetings with both leaders. Pulse Uganda reports that Chameleone met President Samia at the Kizimkazi Festival in Zanzibar in August; she attended the festival's closing on August 14. He also has a relationship with Burundi's president. In December 2025, Ndayishimiye hosted Chameleone at Ntare Rushatsi Palace in Bujumbura, where, according to Pulse, the singer pitched the idea of a music studio for Burundi. Those meetings give the invitations some context. Whether either leader actually travels to Kampala for a concert is another matter, and nothing had been confirmed by their offices when the story broke. The December 4 booking The concert has already gone through one major change. Chameleone had a fully paid booking for Lugogo Cricket Oval on December 4. Bigeye.ug reports that in May he surrendered that date to Kings Love Entertainment so that King Saha could hold his own December concert at the venue, with a statement from Chameleone's camp issued on June 1. That statement said the show was not cancelled. "'Chameleone Unlimited' remains a priority and will be announced on a later date, Insha Allah," it read. Pulse Uganda reports that Lugogo remains in Chameleone's plans, but the revised December date had not been disclosed when the invitations were announced. Why the venue matters The Lugogo Cricket Oval is one of Kampala's main open-air concert venues, and December is when many Ugandan artists stage their big annual shows. Giving up a paid December date to another artist was an unusual step, and it left fans waiting for a new date for Chameleone Unlimited. Reading the moment For Chameleone, the presidential invitations do two jobs. They keep the concert in the conversation while the date is still unconfirmed, and they underline the regional standing he wants the show to project. For fans, the practical questions are simpler: when the show will happen, who else will perform and how much tickets will cost. The wider Kampala calendar is busy. Tanzania's Diamond Platnumz plays Lugogo Cricket Oval on October 30 in a Comedy Store-branded show, and December brings more big local concerts. East Africa's cross-border pop scene, including bongo flava from Tanzania , continues to draw large crowds in Uganda.
