Two slow-building hits have finally broken into the UK Top 5. Jamie Miller's "Babydoll" climbs three places to No. 3, and Ashe's "Stop The Wedding!" rises six places to No. 4 on the Official Singles Chart published on October 9, 2026. For both artists it is a first. Official Charts says "Babydoll" gives the Welsh singer-songwriter his highest chart position to date, and Ashe's song reaches a brand-new peak after its first Top 10 appearance last month. Swift holds on at No. 1 At the top, Taylor Swift 's "Patient Zero" secures a second consecutive week at No. 1, Official Charts reports. The race was closer than it looks. Chart Watch UK's James Masterton writes that for most of the week the debate was whether Sienna Spiro would reclaim No. 1 with "Great Expectation" or Swift would hold on, with the two "genuinely neck and neck" up to the final midweek update. By Friday, he says, Swift led by around 10,000 sales, almost exactly the number of pre-ordered CD singles of "Patient Zero" that were posted in time to count. Masterton calls the tactic perfectly within the rules but "manipulation so blatant and so brazen" that it raises questions. For the US side of the story, see our report on "Patient Zero" holding No. 1 on the Hot 100 . Why Miller and Ashe matter Masterton has been championing both songs. He calls "Babydoll" "uplifting and joyous" and describes Ashe's single as "equally superlative," adding that either could be a future No. 1. He also notes the make-up of the Top 10. Miller and Sombr, who rebounds from 13 to 10 with "My Body Isn't Ready," are the only men in a Top 10 otherwise dominated by solo female stars: Taylor Swift, Sienna Spiro, Ashe, Ella Langley, Stella Lefty, Olivia Rodrigo, Adela and Dua Lipa. This week's movers No. 1: "Patient Zero," Taylor Swift (second week) No. 3: "Babydoll," Jamie Miller (up 3, first Top 5) No. 4: "Stop The Wedding!," Ashe (up 6, first Top 5) Highest new entry: "Draw You Out," Noah Kahan (No. 16) No. 10: "My Body Isn't Ready," Sombr (up from 13) Chart published: October 9, 2026 (week ending October 15) Elsewhere in the chart Official Charts reports that Noah Kahan has the week's highest new entry with "Draw You Out" at No. 16, the first taste of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping soundtrack. His "Willing and Able" reaches a new peak of No. 20. Drake scores three new Top 40 entries from the expanded edition of HABIBTI: "Solar Eclipse" featuring Don Toliver at No. 22, "Quebec" at 27 and "Cold Shoulder" featuring Don Toliver and Yebba at 36. We covered "Solar Eclipse" in our report on Drake's 91st Hot 100 top 10 . First Top 40 hits Several acts land their first Top 40 hit, according to Official Charts. German DJ Kolter's "Hey Everybody (Back In The Dance)" jumps 20 places to No. 29. GENER8ION and Yung Lean's "STORM II" surges 36 places to No. 37, which Masterton links to their VMAs performance. UK rapper Morrisson enters at No. 40 with "COS OF YOU." Cloonee, Prospa and Tristan Henry's "Good Girl" climbs to No. 25, and DJ Goja, Jason Derulo and Melody's "Mi Chico" jumps to No. 30. A Top 10 of one-hit acts Masterton adds that every act in the Top 10 has just one hit in it, although four of them have a second concurrent hit lower down the Top 20. He also notes that Swift's other recent hits have faded: "Babylon" falls from 4 to 28, while last week's No. 3, "Cleveland," drops out, outperformed on streams by "The Fate Of Ophelia," which re-enters at No. 17 on the first anniversary of its arrival at No. 1. What's next Masterton suggests more "Patient Zero" CD orders may still qualify for next week's chart, so Swift could hold off Spiro again. Meanwhile, Miller and Ashe are both climbing. On the albums chart, Blossoms took No. 1 with Songs From The Wedding Cake, edging out The Beatles' Rubber Soul reissue. See more on our charts hub. Sources: Official Charts | Chart Watch UK
