Article

Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz headlines Comedy Store UG at 10 Retro Tour at Kampala's Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday, October 30, 2026. Rwanda's The Ben will join him at an exclusive meet-and-greet dinner before the show, according to Pulse Uganda and Rwandan outlet Umunota. The "Retro Tour" name belongs to Comedy Store, which is marking ten years, rather than to a Diamond tour. "An exclusive night with the Simba" Pulse Uganda reports that the meet-and-greet is being run by Comedy Store and its founder Alex Muhangi, and branded as an "exclusive night with the Simba". Alongside The Ben, it features guitarist Myko Ouma and Sheilah Gashumba, also known as DJ Lil Stunner. Tables for the dinner start from Shs5 million, which Umunota converts to about RWF 1.8 million. That puts it firmly in the premium bracket and makes it a separate event from the main concert. The main show The concert itself takes place at Lugogo Cricket Oval, with gates opening at 2pm. Patro lists ticket prices of UGX 30,000 for regular entry, UGX 100,000 for early bird, UGX 200,000 for the Diamond Circle, UGX 1 million for VIP and UGX 3 million for a VIP table. The line-up is long. Patro lists The Ben, Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi, Sheebah, Spice Diana, Karole Kasita, Fik Fameica, Gloria Bugie, Laika, An-Known and Kabako, plus comedians including Patrick Salvado. Kalela and Bree are the hosts. That mix of music and comedy reflects the organiser. Comedy Store is a comedy brand first, and its tenth-anniversary show puts a regional music headliner at the top of a bill packed with Ugandan stars and comedians. The headliner Patro describes Diamond as the boss of WCB Wasafi and points to hits including "Jeje", "Waah!", "Yatapita", "Nana" and "Komasava" as the songs fans can expect. Booking him gives the anniversary show a pan-East African draw and strengthens the case for a big crowd at an outdoor venue. The Ben's role is also significant for Rwandan fans. Umunota's coverage focuses on his participation in the dinner, which links the Kampala night to audiences in Kigali as well as Dar es Salaam and Kampala. Why it matters for the region East African stars increasingly headline each other's cities, and Kampala's big shows now regularly mix Ugandan, Tanzanian, Kenyan and Rwandan names. A Tanzanian headliner, a Rwandan guest and a Kenyan comedian on one Ugandan bill is a clear example. For more on Diamond's sound, see our bongo flava page and our Tanzania hub. A busy Lugogo season Lugogo Cricket Oval is at the centre of Kampala's end-of-year concert calendar. Ugandan veteran Jose Chameleone has said he will return there for Chameleone Unlimited at a date still to be announced, and other December shows are lined up at the same venue. A strong turnout on October 30 would set the tone for the rest of the season. For ticket buyers, the main choice is between the regular and early-bird tiers and the premium options closer to the stage. The VIP table at UGX 3 million and the separate dinner tables aimed at corporate and high-end buyers show how Kampala promoters are building several price levels into one night.
