One of R&B's most admired voices is coming to Lagos for Detty December. Brandy will headline Flytime's House of R&B on Sunday, December 20, 2026, at the Eko Convention Centre, Billboard and Essence report. The Glenmorangie-sponsored concert opens six straight nights of Flytime events, the long-running Lagos promoter's December season. Why Brandy "Brandy is one of the most influential voices in R&B, and bringing her to the Flytime stage is incredibly special," said Cecil Hammond, Flytime's founder and chief executive. "We've watched Lagos grow into a global destination for music and entertainment over the past two decades, and we're proud to have played a part in that journey. Brandy represents everything Flytime's House of R&B celebrates, and she is the perfect artist to open our December season." Chief operating officer Keke Hammond added: "Every year, we challenge ourselves to raise the standard of live entertainment in Lagos. This December brings six nights, each with its own identity and experience. Opening with an artist of Brandy's caliber sets the tone for the performances and hospitality our guests can expect all season." The Flytime December calendar All six events take place at the Eko Convention Centre, with more line-up announcements expected in the coming weeks. Essence says past performers include Wizkid , Burna Boy, Davido, Tems and Rema, as well as international acts such as Megan Thee Stallion, Boyz II Men and Bobby Brown. Last year's programme featured Rema, Central Cee, Davido, Asake, Olamide and Flavour, with attendance reportedly approaching 20,000 at the busiest events. A big year for "The Vocal Bible" Brandy, nicknamed "The Vocal Bible", has been a force in R&B since her self-titled debut album in 1994. Her catalogue includes "I Wanna Be Down", "Almost Doesn't Count" and "The Boy Is Mine", her Grammy-winning duet with Monica. 2026 has been especially busy. Billboard notes collaborations with Ty Dolla $ign, Kehlani and Josh Levi, plus a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She also released her memoir PHASES , which Essence says debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list. Essence adds that she received the Black Music Icon Award from the Recording Academy's Black Music Collective earlier this year. Her Lagos visit is part of a wider African swing. Billboard reports three South African concerts first: Cape Town on December 14 and Pretoria on December 17 and 18. Lagos' December pull Detty December, the holiday season when Lagos welcomes visitors from across the African diaspora, has become one of the busiest periods in the continent's live-music calendar. US acts are increasingly part of it: Ne-Yo was booked for a brunch concert in Nairobi this month, while Davido has set up an Oriade residency at the National Theatre in Lagos. What Lagos can expect Billboard calls the show one of the main events of this year's Detty December. Essence says it will bring one of R&B's most celebrated vocalists to a stage that has hosted some of the biggest names in music over the past two decades. Her vocal arrangements have long earned admiration from other musicians, and Essence notes that her recordings keep finding younger listeners, three decades into her career. She arrives in good live form. Billboard's coverage was illustrated with a photo of her performing at the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on July 4. Neither outlet has said what the Lagos setlist will include, or whether guests will join her. For Flytime, though, the booking sets the tone: House of R&B is the first of six nights, and the promoter has framed it as the event that opens its whole season. With the South African dates landing the week before, Lagos will be the last stop on her December trip, as far as has been announced. What's next Flytime says more names for its December run will be announced in the coming weeks. Ticket details and updates are being shared on flytimefest.com and on the @flytimeshouseofrnb Instagram account. Sources: Billboard | Essence
