Slovak singer-songwriter and dancer ADÉLA has landed her first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her single "Nicole Kidman" climbs three places to No. 9 on the chart dated October 17, 2026, completing a rapid rise for one of pop's breakout new names this year. Billboard confirmed the milestone on October 12 in its weekly rundown of the top 10, where Taylor Swift's "Patient Zero" spent a second week at No. 1. The numbers In the tracking week, "Nicole Kidman" earned 13.6 million official US streams, up 2 per cent, and 3 million in radio airplay audience, a 100 per cent jump. It also sold 1,000 copies, up 3 per cent. The doubling of radio reach suggests that US pop stations are now starting to pick the song up, which could help it climb further. A fast-moving story ADÉLA's rise has been quick. In September, "Nicole Kidman" became her first-ever Hot 100 entry. Her song "Ain't in LA" is also still in the top 30 after peaking at No. 27. Both tracks come from her first album, PRIMA, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 last month, an unusually strong start for a debut by a new artist from outside the US and UK. Permission from a legend The song's title is a tribute to the Oscar-winning Australian actress, and ADÉLA made sure the star was on board. She told Pop Crave that she sought, and received, Nicole Kidman's permission to use her name in the song. "I can't believe Nicole Kidman knows who I am," she said. "To get the recognition from the person that you wrote the song about, and it being not just any person … it's Nicole Kidman. Like, she's a legend." Billboard marked the moment with a list of Hot 100 hits named after film stars, a tradition that includes Taylor Swift's "Elizabeth Taylor". The company she keeps ADÉLA's breakthrough came in a competitive week. Alongside her at the top of the chart, Taylor Swift holds No. 1 with "Patient Zero", Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" sits at No. 2 after its record 24 weeks on top, and Drake and Don Toliver's "Solar Eclipse" debuts at No. 5 as Drake's record 91st top 10. Elsewhere in the top 10 are Stella Lefty's "Boston", Morgan Wallen's "Been by Now", Tame Impala and JENNIE 's "Dracula", Ariana Grande's "Hate That I Made You Love Me", Olivia Rodrigo's "Stupid Song" and Karol G 's "BbY WOW" with Judeline and rusowsky. Pop's new global pipeline ADÉLA's success is another example of how quickly artists from outside the traditional US and UK pop system can now break through. Like JENNIE, a K-pop star now scoring huge US hits, and Karol G, whose Spanish-language songs regularly reach the top 10, she shows how streaming has opened the Hot 100 to a wider range of voices. Her blend of catchy pop hooks, sharp lyrics and choreography-led performances has helped her stand out. She has also been building her live following; our featured image shows her on stage at Brooklyn Steel in New York on September 19, 2026. How the Hot 100 works The Hot 100 ranks songs using a combination of all-genre US streaming, radio airplay and sales. Data provider Luminate checks submissions and removes anything that looks suspicious before the chart is published. The full chart dated October 17 appears on Billboard.com on October 13. A rapid climb Going from a first Hot 100 entry to the top 10 in about a month is rare for a new artist, especially one who is not signed to a long-established US act's camp. What's next With radio support growing fast and streams steady, "Nicole Kidman" has room to climb further. A strong showing at radio over the coming weeks could push it towards the top five. For ADÉLA, the next goal will be to turn this first top 10 into a lasting career, with fans already watching for her next single from PRIMA and for news of further tour dates. Sources: Billboard
